Regarded as the most elusive running back of all time, Barry Sanders was electrifying to watch as he turned defenses inside and out on his way to being immortalized in Canton.

With the third overall pick of the 1989 NFL Draft, The Detroir Lions selected the Oaklahoma State, Heisman Trophy (1988) winning prodigy. Barry Sanders took this opportunity with both hands and ran with it, starting his career with 1,470 Yards, 14 TD’s and 282 receiving yards off of 24 receptions. Not only was he the Rookie of the Year, he also landed his first of ten consecutive Probowls.

With a relatively “short” body of work spanning ten years Sanders managed accrue a total of 15,269 yards (merely 1500 yards short of the All Time Rushing Record*), 99 Touchdowns and a career average of 5.0 Yards per carry, it’s easy to see why Sanders has his bust in the Hall Of Fame.

While the statistics show how consistent Sanders was, it was his ability to turn throw away plays into big gains. While watching a Detroit game during the 90’s you would be able to see Sanders dodging, ducking, dipping and diving to avoid defenders, often times just inches from having his knee or shoulder negate his often miracle like plays.

To this day he will still be regarded as one of the best in History and lead contender in the most elusive player in the NFL.
