Legends Profile- The GOAT Jerry Rice

This week’s legend article looks at one of the greatest players to ever play the game, Jerry Rice. Considered the undisputed greatest wide receiver to ever play the game or the G.O.A.T (greatest of all time). Jerry Rice is unparalleled in his overall production and consistency.
He played the game for twenty-one years, starting with the Forty Niners in 1985 and finally finishing his illustrious career in 2004 with the Seahawks. At the heart of his longevity was his training regime and complete dedication to the profession, his work ethic is regarded as one of the best to ever play the game.
Through his long tenure he won three super bowl titles and was a key piece in the Niners dominance with Joe Montana. He is the all time leader in receptions (1,549), touchdown receptions (197) and receiving yards (22,895). He is also one of the greatest receivers for yards after the catch or YAC, with 4247, a phenomenal statistic for those who love the game.
In a strike shortened year in 1987, he only played 12 games and yet scored 22 touchdowns, second only behind Randy Moss who broke Rice’s record in 2007, with 23.
His highest total yards in a single season was 1,848 in 1995, and this was in a period before the high flying offences we see now today.
Statistically he is the greatest player of all time period…. The longevity and consistency that Rice possessed is something that only a few could ever come close to. But beyond the amazing stats Rice was a pure football player, the way in which he played the positon and studied the game, showed his dedication to his craft. Induced into the hall of fame in 2010 (first year of eligibility), Rice is one of the greatest legends of the game.
