PIT V WAS Game 1 recap
Pittsburgh were too good for the visiting Washington Redskins which was the second last game of the week one schedule.
Ben Roethlisberger showing why he will be a contender as an elite quarterback for the 2016 season. Roethlisberger posting up 27/37, 300 yards passing and 3 touchdowns. Backfield counterpart DeAngelo Williams placing a case that the back field will do just fine without runningback star Le’Veon Bell, 26 carries, 143 yards and 2 touch downs in the second half to put the final nails in the Redskins openings game. Antonio Brown was getting some love from his quarterback showing why this pairing will be one to watch on the field and in fantasy match ups. 8 receptions, 126 yards and two touchdowns (and some twerking action to get the fans excited).
The Steelers did not allow Washington’s ground game to get going leaving them with only 55 yards total with running backs Matt Jones (7att 24yds) and Chris Thomas (4att 23yds) were unable to get the ball moving, Thomas found the endzone at the start of the fourth but that would be their only trip across the line. Through the air quarterback Kirk Cousins performance on paper would show this could have been a much closer affair with 30/43, 329yds unfortunately two costly interceptions in the second half halted their progress but still managed to post some respectable numbers with Desean Jackson 6 rec 102 yds and Jordan Reed 7 rec 64 yds. Special mention to Dustin Hopkins going 3/3 kicking 31, 40 & 34 yards field goals and PAT.
Pittsburgh will look to continue its opening run as they take on the Bengals and the Redskins will be taking on their divisional rivals, the Dallas Cowboys who will be looking to bounce back after losing their opening divisional round to the New York Giants.
