The excitement of week is behind us, but fear not fellow American Football fans because we have another instalment of some fantastic football action. We have some divisional match ups, some classic contests and some real head scratchers, but its all in the name of fun and football. So strap yourselves in as I go through my week 2 picks.
Thurs:
Jets v Bills - Jets - I think the Jets defence will be too good here. They have one of the best front seven in the game and a pretty decent secondary. Buffalo will have to get their aerial attack going because I don't think they will be able to show much through the run game. That being said I do think McCoy can flash some of his brilliance, but I don't think it will be enough.
I'm going to say Jets by 14
49ers v Panthers - Panthers - Real no brainer here, look for a convincing win here by the Panthers who will be playing at home. A tough loss to the Broncos in the Super Bowl rematch will spark QB Cam Newton into getting his team on a winning run. With the combination of Cam's receivers, the panthers run game and Newtons ability to run from the pocket, I feel the 49ers will be in for a long day.
Panthers by 24
Cowboys v Redskins - Redskins - A divisional match up for the second week in a row, how delightful. I feel the Redskins will just nudge out the travelling cowboys, although Cousins did not throw a touchdown in his match up against the Steelers, an effort of 300+ yards through the air is no small feat. If they can activate the run game I feel there will be enough for the 2015 divisional winners to take this. Although if Elliot can break some big runs, this could be a real tussle.
I'm going to say Redskins by 7
Bengals v Steelers - Steelers - A divisional match up which should be a very nice contest. We saw De'Angelo Williams run the rock with authority for two touchdowns and 142 rushing yards. And Antonio Brown, doing Antonio Brown things with 162 yards and two touchdowns. On the other side we have Andy Dalton and A.J. Green and the back field of Jeremy Hill and Giovani Bernard who can cause real head aches for defences. I feel we will see a very interesting match. Who ever gets the first crucial turn over will win this one.
Steelers by 7
Saints v Giants - Saints - Drew Bree's has a lot of options in his receiving corps. The gun slinger threw for over 400 yards and four touchdowns. Willie Snead (9/172 & 1TD) and Brandon Cooks (6/143 & 2TD's), were favourable targets who exploited the raiders secondary. I see much of the same happening here as the Saints go 1-1, on the back of a strong passing game, against giants defence that allowed rookie quarterback Dak Prescott to throw for 277 yards.
Saints by 14
Dolphins v Patriots - Dolphins - I am going to go with the upset here. The Dolphins lost narrowly to the Seahawks who are definitely a deep post season contender. They only allowed 12 points against a good Hawks offence, I think this will spur them on to think they can take this division rivalry game, and to do it a Gillett Stadium would make this even sweeter. This will be a close contest, but if the Fins can apply pressure to Jimmy Garoppolo, then they may walk away with a big win.
Fins by 3
Chiefs v Texans - Texans - I think this can be any ones game, Alex Smith knows how to move the ball and Spencer Ware was a productive target out of the back field. On the other side of the ball, De'Andre Hopkins and rookie Will Fuller, showed their athletic ability with a number of tough catches and touch down each, in their first game. I think Houston will have the better opportunities to disrupt Smith, and his timing so I'm going Texans by 7.
Titans v Lions - Lions - If the Lions can stuff the run and keep Murray and Henry dormant I think Stafford will be able to push his way through the Titans secondary, spreading the ball out amongst his receivers. I would love to see the Titans take this one but I think what the Lions showed against the Colts will be enough for them to get the win.
Lions by 10
Ravens v Browns - Browns - I think we will be lucky if we can count the amount of wins this team is going to get, on one hand this season but this is a game that the Browns can win. This is a battle of two teams who struggled to score last week. Hue Jackson may surprise many and dial up some explosive offensive calls, enough to edge out a diminished Ravens defence. We talk about the browns enough in our podcast lets hope this ones positive.
Browns by 3
Seahawks v Rams - Seahawks - I feel the Seahawks aren't going to give the Rams the welcome back to LA they're looking for. Unable to get into the end zone against the 49ers last week, I feel it will be a similar affair this week, as much as I would like to see an upset here I just don't see it happening.
Seahawks by 17 points
Bucs v Cardinals - Cardinals - I am going to put this down as my game of the week. Jameis Winston put on a clinic (much to the dismay of my fantasy line up), and Carson Palmer although couldn't quite get the job done last week knows what he needs to do to win. Both teams have exciting back fields, whilst second year sensation David Johnson and veteran back Doug Martin can be damaging in the ground game. Receivers Mike Evans and Larry Fitzgerald are both hot contenders for some big yardage numbers. I feel this will be a high scoring match up with the Cardinals coming out on top.
Cardinals by 14
Jaguars v Chargers - Chargers - Taking it to the Chiefs last week I think the Chargers will be able to nudge out the visiting Jaguars. A big blow with Keenan Allen out of the season due to an ACL tear, but I think Phillip Rivers knows his weapons and if Melvin Gordon can get going on the ground, I think we will be in for a solid outing by the Chargers. Not to discredit the Jaguars, they took the game to the Packers last week, if their defence can put together some good drives and cause some turn overs, I will gladly enjoy being proven wrong, this Jaguars team will be exciting to watch.
Chargers to take it by 3
Falcons v Raiders - Raiders - Just Win Baby!! I have to go with my Raiders here again for week two. Some very costly penalties against the Saints put us in poor situations but a missed field goal in the last few seconds of the game sealed the Raiders win, from some very gutsy play calling by coach Jack Del Rio. I would love to see this again but the Falcons have some great talent, with deep threat in Julio Jones and Bengals recruit Mohammed Sanu, showed that they may both be in for big seasons. Heres hoping we don't give QB Matt Ryan too much time in the pocket.
Raiders by 3
Colts v Broncos - Broncos - The Broncos looked like they had not lost a step in their Super Bowl defence. Ware and Miller were rushing the edge as we know they would, and C.J. Anderson looked very effective running the ball. Now that he won't be splitting any carries there will be a lot of value for Anderson in fantasy match ups. Trevor Siemian looked good and controlled the offence well. Not to doubt Andrew Lucks ability, I just think the defence will be too good, the Colts offensive line has not improved too much from last year, where we saw Luck get hit a lot.
Broncos by 14
Packers v Vikings - Packers - We saw what happened when the Titans stacked the box against the Vikings last week, was that Aidrian Peterson had a very disappointing game totalling 31 yards on the ground and this essentially left the game in Shaun Hills hands to manage. If it weren't for two turn overs, the Titans probably should have won that game.
Packers by 17
Eagles v Bears - Eagles - Carson Wentz was welcomed into the NFL with a match up against the Browns, showing great poise from a young rookie quarterback. Im just hoping that Eagles defence can put on a show, and force Jay Cutler into precarious situations, we all know Cutler is prone to interceptions when put under pressure. Wentz will be tested a bit more in this game and it will really show if the Eagles have found themselves their quarterback for years to come.

These are my picks of the week, some upsets, some no brainers and some nail biters. I think we are in for a great week of football, although football is back so every week is a great week.
