Its that time of year when teams are either separating themselves from the pack or fading into the deep abyss that is the cellar of respective divisions around the league. Acquiring a 500. record from picks last week there is definite room for improvement in week 4. Week 3 had upsets by the bounty with teams such as the Rams, Bills ,Eagles, Redskins and Vikings taking home surprising victories.
Indianapolis Colts 28, Jacksonville Jaguars 34
Can we trust the Jaguars again? This hype train has to deliver the goods sometime right?.....Right?
The answer is yes in an exciting 'Game of the Week' type quality shootout with Blake Bortles finally pioneering a 2015 like stat-line that fantasy owners can finally be proud of. This is the annual London game with the Jaguars already being accustomed to the process, look for the Colts to be overwhelmed by the travel strain.
Fantasy Alert* No Moncrief No Worries, enter Philip Dorset, Jack 'Rainbow Six' Doyle will also have redzone success
Houston Texans 14 , Tennessee Titans 17
Upset alert! The Titans haven't been terrible; their defense has kept games close with Dick Lebeau calling plays. On offense they are playing the game they drafted for which is a physical run game to set up play-action passes which this is the recipe to keep games close. After a catastrophic pummeling at the hands of the Patriots they Texans also lost their best player...Scratch that, the best player in the NFL in J.J. Watt. The Titans will be looking for vengeance after a heart breaking loss last week at home.
Fantasy Alert* Demarco Murray controlling the clock
Washington Redskins 17 , Cleveland Browns 21
After heart breaking losses to the Ravens and the Dolphins in overtime the Browns are finally going to deliver in the late minutes of a game! The Redskins secondary being devoid of DeAngelo Hall and possibly Bashaud Breeland will be a hindrance.
Fantasy Alert* Does Terrelle Pryor get points for an interception? DJax has two splash plays and Isaiah Crowell runs rampant on a porous Redksins run defense.
Seattle Seahawks 24, New York Jets 13
This will be the defensive Slobber-Knocker of week 4, Russell Wilson will make enough plays even with a nightmare matchup between the Hawks Oline and Jets front-seven. The Jets wideouts are battered and Seattle notoriously matches up well against physical pass catchers so Fitzmagic will follow up his last week’s stinker in the mold of Fitztragic.
Fantasy Alert* Seattle defense will get theirs, Matt Forte has a solid chance of 100+ receiving.
New England Patriots 21, Buffalo Bills 23
Don't call me crazy...ok you can but it’s the week of the upset and the law of averages suggest Rex Ryan will have his 'feel good' moment of the 2016 season...Before he is looking for work in the off-season. Rex acted as a reporter to Julian Edelman (Click Here) in an attempt to gain insight into who starts at quarterback which failed miserably. However, this Bills team beat the Cardinals in a huge upset last week so hopefully we see the Patriots become human like the rest of the league
Fantasy Alert*
Dennis Thurman is the new defensive coordinator for the Bills who has a great reputation of stifling run defense so look for an interesting matchup between Jacoby Brissett and LeGarrette Blount against the Bills defense.
Carolina Panthers 35 , Atlanta Falcons 20
The Falcons are playing fun football but it isn't winning football. There is only so many times this Atlanta offense can light up the scoreboard and the Panthers simply won’t allow that after a shellacking at the hands of Minnesota Vikings. There isn't a world in existence that will see the Panthers at 1-3 after the first four games.
Fantasy Alert* Cam Newton running Wild, Matt Ryan Garbage time
Oakland Raiders 24, Baltimore Ravens 23
The Ravens may be the most underwhelming 3-0 team in recent memory with close victories to the Browns, Jaguars and Bills. Partial credit is due with solid defensive showings at times but as mentioned previously the Quarterbacks that were display were a lackluster at best. The Raiders are travelling to the East coast and are 0-5 against the Ravens in Charm City but with encouraging signs that the Oakland defense improved on the road shows growth. After sixteen straight losses on east coast trips the Raiders after this week will have three victories in a row when traveling across the country.
Fantasy Alert* Dennis Pitta against a porous Oakland defense, Derek Carr; QBs targeting Baltimore cornerbacks so far have allowed a passer rating of 121.1 so far this season
Detriot Lions 23, Chicago Bears 6
Since future president Jim Bob Cooter took over as offensive coordinator, Matthew Stafford has been playing at a top 10 level at the quarterback position. (27TDs: 6Ints). This Lions team has been playing tough this season and conducted a late game rally to put pressure on the Green Bay Backers. Whereas the Bears were in a precarious position before the season started. Now after losing key pieces on both sides of the ball one would think that this team will be in the stakes for a top pick when Philadelphia hosts the 2017 NFL draft.
Fantasy Alert* Marvin Jones (if the Hamstring holds up), Bears: Zach Miller is going against the worst defense against tightends
Denver Broncos 23, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 13
The Broncos are for real and to the demise of the rest of the league their defense hasn't taken a step back. In last week’s game against Cincinnati the Bengals sat on routes with the plan to make Trevor Siemian beat them deep. To the surprise of the NFL, Trevor picked apart the corners of the Bengals.
Fantasy Alert* Do not start Winston! he has been turnover prone recently and Denver are scary good.
Arizona Cardinals 24, LA Rams 13
Will the Rams notch another upset and stay on top on the NFC west? the answer is no but they will put up a fight against the more talented Cardinals who have not been looking their normal selves losing to an underwhelming Buffalo Bills side and an undermanned Patriots team. The Rams have a chance to literally run away with this one if Todd Gurely repeats a similar performance to last year when he gashed the Cards at their own house running for 146 yards last season. Arizona has not protected Carson Palmer all that well so the Rams front seven might be in store for a fun day.
Fantasy Alert* Cardinals defense will have ample opportunities against the Rams passing game
San Diego Chargers 31, New Orlean Saints 28
The Saints are a team that are filled with holes and it’s not just Drew Brees that has to go above and beyond for his team to hope for a win. Philip Rivers has the same dilemma with less firepower at his disposal, however, Williams and Benjamin seem to be solid options but the guy to look for will be Melvin Gordon. The Saints defense was slashed and gashed by Freeman and Coleman last week which has been the theme of the season for New Orleans. The Chargers have more to offer on defense which is why the escape with the win.
Fantasy Alert* Melvin Gordon and Drew Brees
Dallas Cowboys 21, San Francisco 49ers 10
The Cowboys played their game against the Bears last week and that was to control the ball against the hapless Bears. This game seems to follow a similar theme with the 49ers becoming fatigued with the ineptitude of the passing game putting further pressure on their defense. If San Francisco can get Carlos Hyde rumbling early and often then there may be a chance
Fantasy Alert* Ezekiel Elliot having a high volume game, Vance McDonald exposing Dallas's inability to cover tight ends
Pittsburgh Steelers 19 , Kansas City Chiefs 16
Its Sunday Night Football and the Bears aren't involved...thank god. The Steelers are in desperate need of a rebound game after the Eagles dominated the black and yellow on both sides of the ball while the Chiefs intercepted Fitzpatrick a whopping six...Yes that’s right, six times in last week’s beatdown so Big Ben must be at his best and avoid throwing at Marcus Peters too often. Le'Veon Bell is back to the disappointment of Chiefs fans so if Pittsburgh get it going early then we should see a resurgence in a hard fought game.
Fantasy Alert* Bell is back, Travis Kelce.
Minnesota Vikings 20, NY Giants 13
The Vikings are for real and have playmakers on every level of the defense so the matchup between the Giants receivers and Vikings secondary will be the highlight. Without key pieces in the backfield for the Giants the rush attack could be manhandled by the Vikings and vice versa for the Giants so fantasy owners do not play running backs in this one.
Fantasy Alert* Eli may have a vintage interception day
